No. 4 Men’s Golf’s Bennett named to 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup team

Freshman Daniel Bennett (Team International) will compete at Ryder Cup-style event on June 5-7.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Men's Golf freshman Daniel Bennett has been selected to compete in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday evening. Bennett is one of 12 men's players chosen for Team International in the Ryder Cup-style competition to be held June 5-7 at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, S.C.
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the GCAA and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lounge in Orlando in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players.
Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Palmer Cup is the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners. Team USA holds a 15-12-1 all-time lead in the Palmer Cup series entering the 2025 event.
During his freshman season in 2024-25, Bennett has competed in 10 of UT's first 12 events and boasts a team-best 69.30 stroke average. He is No. 62 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (April 23) and No. 4 in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard (April 28). Bennett was named one of 20 players on the first spring watch list for the 2025 Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel and was tabbed the SEC Men's Freshman of the Week on April 16.
Bennett has registered a pair of individual runner-up finishes and four top-three showings while placing in the top-16 in eight of his first nine stroke-play events this season. Twenty of his 27 rounds this year have been par or better, including 14 rounds in the 60s. He tied for second at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 24-25) with a 16-under 197 (64-67-66). Bennett posted his collegiate-low 18-hole score of 7-under 64 in the opening round of the Valspar Collegiate (Mar. 24). He also tied for second at the Southwestern Invitational (Jan. 27-29) with a 4-under 209 (72-70-67). Bennett tied for third at The Ford Collegiate (April 14-15) with a 3-under 207 (72-68-67) and tied for third at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) with a 5-under 205 (65-69-71) in his collegiate debut. He participated in the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Championship on the DP World Tour (Dec. 12-15) in South Africa, and he competed in the 2024 Spirit International for Team South Africa (Nov. 14-16) at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
