No. 4 Men’s Golf earns No. 1 seed in NCAA Reno Regional

RENO, Nevada — The No. 4 University of Texas Men's Golf team is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Reno Regional, the NCAA and Golf Channel announced during its Selection Show on Wednesday. The Longhorns will be one of 14 teams to compete at the Montreux Golf and Country Club from Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 14.
The 54-hole tournament will also feature five individual players. The top five teams and the low individual not on those five qualifying teams at the Reno Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, scheduled for May 23-28 at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif.
The Reno Regional field includes (in seed order with Scoreboard powered by Clippd rankings in parentheses): TEXAS (4), Virginia (9), Alabama (16), Duke (21), Mississippi State (28), BYU (33), San Diego (40), Santa Clara (45), California (53), Grand Canyon (58), Sam Houston (66), East Tennessee State (88), Central Arkansas (161) and Fairfield (224). Pairings and tee times for the Reno Regional will be announced later.
Eighty-one teams and 45 individuals will compete in six NCAA regional championship sites across the country. Three of the regionals will host 13 teams and 10 individuals, while the other three will feature 14 teams and five individuals apiece.
Texas enters the NCAA Regionals with a streak of 17 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, the longest current streak in NCAA Division I men's golf. The Longhorns have claimed four national titles in program history, having won the team championship in 1971, 1972, 2012 and 2022.
Texas has claimed FIVE team titles and nine top-three finishes in its first 11 stroke-play events of the 2024-25 season. The Longhorns have been even more impressive this spring with five team wins, a runner-up finish and a third-place showing in their first eight tournaments.
UT earned team championships at the Southwestern Invitational (Jan. 27-29), The Hayt (Mar. 8-10), the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 24-25) and The Ford Collegiate (April 14-15) and shared the team title at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 5-6). The Longhorns finished runner-up at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and Pauma Valley Invitational (Mar. 17-18) and placed third at the Folds of Honor Collegiate (Sept. 9-11) and Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 6-8). In addition, Texas placed second at the four-team NB3 MatchPlay in October.
