No. 4 Men’s Golf’s Bennett, Maas named to Fred Haskins Award Postseason Watch List

Freshman Daniel Bennett and junior Christiaan Maas are two of 15 players named to watch list for nation’s top collegiate men’s golfer.
COLUMBUS, Ga. — University of Texas Men's Golf freshman Daniel Bennett and junior Christiaan Maas have been named to the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel Postseason Watch List, the Haskins Foundation announced Wednesday morning. Bennett and Maas are two of 15 players named to the watch list for the annual award which honors the top men's collegiate golfer.
Texas, Auburn and Oklahoma State are the only schools to have a pair of players on the postseason watch list. Finalists for the 2024-25 Haskins Award will be released on Friday, May 16 and voting will open for the 10 players that are included on the list. Voting will end on Monday, May 26 at the conclusion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship.
Bennett, currently No. 62 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (April 23) and No. 4 in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard (April 28), has registered a team-best 69.30 scoring average this season. He boasts a pair of individual runner-up finishes and four top-three showings while placing in the top-16 in eight of his first nine stroke-play events this year. Bennett was named to the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup Team International yesterday and was tabbed the SEC Men's Freshman of the Week on April 16.
Maas, currently No. 10 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (April 23) and No. 8 in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard (April 28), has registered a 69.58 scoring average and boasts one individual victory, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes in his first 11 stroke-play appearances this year. One of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award and the SEC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week (Mar. 19), Maas earned his second career collegiate win at the Pauma Valley Invitational (Mar. 17-18) with a 9-under 204 (68-70-66).
Celebrating its 55th year, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel has been given to players who have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournament titles around the world. The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SID's and select golf media. Golf Channel and Golfweek are media partners for the Fred Haskins Award.
