AUGUSTA, Ga. — The No. 1 Texas Men's Golf team fired a final-round score of 11-under par 277 on Sunday to finish in a tie for first place in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Longhorns recorded a 54-hole total of 20-under 844 (281-286-277) and shared the team championship with No. 5 Oklahoma State (285-281-278).
This marks the fourth team title of the season for Texas, with all four wins coming since the start of the spring campaign. In their first six tournaments this spring, the Longhorns have posted four team victories, a runner-up finish and a third-place showing.
In Sunday's final round, Texas counted scores from junior Christiaan Maas (5-under 67), junior Luke Potter (3-under 69), junior Tommy Morrison (2-under 70) and sophomore Jack Gilbert (1-under 71) to post a team round of 11-under 277.
The Longhorns began Sunday in third place, just two strokes behind 36-hole leader No. 13 Illinois, as a total of five teams entered the final round within four strokes of the lead. By the midway mark on Sunday, No. 9 North Carolina and Notre Dame had both slipped out of contention and a three-team race developed between Texas, Oklahoma State and Illinois.
The Longhorns and Cowboys pulled away over the final four holes. Maas recorded a birdie on the par-five 17th before closing with a 15-foot putt for eagle on the par-four 18th to finish out his round of 5-under 67. Morrison then registered an eagle on 17 and rolled in a short birdie on 18 to close out his 2-under 70. Trailing by one stroke entering the final hole, Oklahoma State's Preston Stout made a birdie on 18 to draw the Cowboys even with Texas at 20-under on the team leaderboard. Illinois placed third in the team standings at 15-under 849 (285-280-284). The 15-team field included five squads in the top 25 of the latest Scoreboard powered by Clippd poll (April 2).
North Carolina's David Ford (69-66-69) and Max Herendeen of Illinois (66-69-69) both finished at 12-under 204 at the top of the individual leaderboard, before Ford claimed medalist honors with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Stout placed third at 11-under 205 (66-68-71).

Texas returns to the course when it competes on April 14-15 (Monday-Tuesday) at The Ford Collegiate in Richmond Hill, Ga.
