No. 4 Men’s Golf’s Maas named finalist for Fred Haskins Award

Junior Christiaan Maas is one of 10 players selected as a finalist for nation’s top collegiate men’s golfer.
COLUMBUS, Ga. — University of Texas Men's Golf junior Christiaan Maas has been named one of 10 finalists for the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel, the Haskins Foundation announced Friday morning. The annual award honors the nation's top men's collegiate golfer.
Voting is currently open for the 10 players that are included on the list of finalists. Voting will end on Monday, May 26 at the conclusion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship.
Maas, currently No. 8 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 14) and No. 8 in the latest NCAA individual rankings by Scoreboard (May 15), has registered a 69.78 scoring average and boasts one individual victory, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes in his first 12 stroke-play appearances this year. Twenty-nine of his 36 stroke-play rounds have been par or better during the season, including a team-best 18 rounds in the 60s. Maas garnered All-SEC First Team recognition and was one of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award along with earning SEC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week (Mar. 19) honors. He claimed his second career collegiate win at the Pauma Valley Invitational (Mar. 17-18) with a 9-under 204 (68-70-66).
Celebrating its 55th year, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel has been given to players who have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournament titles around the world. The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SID's and select golf media. Golf Channel and Golfweek are media partners for the Fred Haskins Award.
