Advancing to Match Play: Not only has Texas been a mainstay in advancing to the NCAA Championships, it also has consistently produced strong results while at the national championship. In the last 12 opportunities (dating back to the 2012 NCAA Championships), UT has advanced to the Match Play quarterfinals stage (final eight teams) a total of SEVEN times. Texas is one of just THREE schools (joined by Illinois and Vanderbilt) to advance to Match Play at least SEVEN times in the last 12 opportunities (2020 tourney was canceled due to COVID-19).

Team Success in 2024-25: Texas has claimed FIVE team titles and 10 top-three finishes in its first 12 stroke-play events of the 2024-25 season. The Longhorns have been even more impressive this spring with five team wins, a runner-up finish and a pair of third-place showings in their nine tournament appearances. UT earned team championships at the Southwestern Invitational (Jan. 27-29), The Hayt (Mar. 8-10), the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 24-25) and The Ford Collegiate (April 14-15) and shared the team title at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 5-6). The Longhorns finished runner-up at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and Pauma Valley Invitational (Mar. 17-18) and placed third at the Folds of Honor Collegiate (Sept. 9-11), the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 6-8) and the NCAA Reno Regional (May 12-14). In addition, Texas placed second at the four-team NB3 MatchPlay in October.
Battling the Conditions in Reno to Qualify for Nationals: The Longhorns battled all sorts of unique conditions at the NCAA Reno Regional (May 12-14) and grinded their way to a third-place team finish to advance to the NCAA Championship. On the opening day of the regional, wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour delayed the start time by eight hours, and the field was only able to get six-to-eight holes of play completed. The second day included more delays due to snowfall in the morning, before the teams were able to get on the course and compete in frigid conditions while completing round one and getting a little more than halfway through the second round. Day three saw a frost delay in the morning, before the field was able to finish the second and final rounds. The Longhorns registered a 54-hole total of 8-under 856 (292-284-280). BYU claimed the team title at 15-under 849 (291-275-283), and No. 9 Virginia placed second at 11-under 853 (286-288-279). Luke Potter tied for third with a three-round score of 6-under 210 (71-71-68), and Tommy Morrison tied for seventh at 3-under 213 (72-69-72).
