Former Longhorn earned his 16th career PGA TOUR victory and posted his third win in his last four starts.
DUBLIN, Ohio — Former University of Texas star Scottie Scheffler posted a 2-under 70 on Sunday afternoon to record a four-stroke win in The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. Scheffler earned his 16th career PGA TOUR victory and recorded his third win in his last four starts.
Only Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have reached 16 PGA TOUR wins in their careers quicker than Scheffler. Scheffler also joined Woods (1999-2000-2001) as the only golfers in history to earn wins in back-to-back seasons at The Memorial Tournament.
Scheffler registered a four-round score of 10-under 278 (70-70-68-70), four strokes ahead of runner-up Ben Griffin at 6-under 282. Scheffler began the final round with a one-stroke lead over Griffin, and this marked the ninth straight time that Scheffler has won when holding the 54-hole lead.
Former Longhorn Jordan Spieth also had a solid performance at The Memorial Tournament. Spieth placed in a five-way tie for seventh at 1-under 287 (72-69-72-74).
Scheffler's win marked the 109th official PGA TOUR victory accomplished by 17 different individuals in the 98-year history of the Texas Men's Golf program.
