Men’s Golf trio named to Golfweek All-America Teams

Bennett and Morrison selected to Second Team, while Maas earned spot on Third Team.
AUSTIN, Texas — A trio of University of Texas men's golfers have been named to Golfweek's All-America Teams for the 2024-25 season, the publication announced Wednesday. Freshman Daniel Bennett and junior Tommy Morrison were selected to the 10-person Second Team, while junior Christiaan Maas was tabbed to the 10-person Third Team.
Bennett was previously recognized as the recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award as the National Freshman of the Year and a Division I PING First-Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). He also was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Year in addition to earning First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team mention. One of 12 men's players chosen for Team International to compete in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup (June 5-7 at Congaree GC in Ridgeland, S.C.), Bennett concluded the year with a team-best 70.00 scoring average during his 11 stroke-play tournament appearances this season. He registered a pair of individual runner-up finishes, four top-three showings, five top-10 finishes and placed in the top-16 in eight of his 11 stroke-play events. The SEC Men's Freshman of the Week (April 16), 24 of his 34 rounds this year were par or better, including 15 rounds in the 60s.
Morrison was one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award and earned Second Team All-SEC mention. The SEC Men's Golfer of the Week (Feb. 12) and a member of the 2025 SEC Community Service Team, Morrison registered a 70.15 scoring average during his 13 stroke-play tournaments this season. He placed in the top-25 in 11 of his 13 stroke-play appearances, including one victory, a runner-up finish and eight top-11 efforts. Twenty-nine (29) of his 40 rounds this year were par or better, including 17 rounds in the 60s. He claimed his first career collegiate individual victory at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 6-8), carding a 54-hole total of 21-under 195 (67-65-63) and winning the title on the first playoff hole.
Maas was one of five finalists for the Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Workday and one of 10 finalists for the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel. A First Team All-SEC selection and one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award, he registered a 70.40 stroke average and recorded one individual victory, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes in his 13 stroke-play appearances this season. The SEC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week (March 19), 29 of his 40 rounds this year were par or better, including 18 rounds in the 60s. He earned his second career collegiate win at the Pauma Valley Invitational (March 17-18) with a 9-under 204 (68-70-66).
Texas recently completed the 2024-25 season with a run to the Match Play quarterfinals at the 2025 NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa (Carlsbad, Calif.). The Longhorns claimed five team titles and 10 top-three finishes during their 13 stroke-play events of the 2024-25 season. With its tie for fifth in this year's national championship, Texas recorded its 11th top-five finish at the NCAA Championship under the direction of 28th-year head coach John Fields.
