2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft starts Sunday

At least one Longhorn has been selected every year since the MLB Draft began in 1965
AUSTIN, Texas — Several Texas Longhorns student-athletes are expected to hear their names called in the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft, which is set for July 13-14, 2025 in Atlanta.
The 20-round draft begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, with both MLB Network and ESPN providing coverage. The draft concludes with rounds 4-20 at 10:30 a.m. Monday. MLB.com will stream the final 17 rounds.
Texas has 373 all-time picks, the most by any SEC school, highlighted by 43 first-round selections. At least one Texas player has been drafted every year since the MLB Draft began in 1965.
MLB.com listed four Longhorns in the top 250 prospects heading into the 2025 draft, with outfielder Max Belyeu leading the way at No. 34. Meanwhile, left-hander Jared Spencer checked in at No. 113 and catcher Rylan Galvan was slotted at No. 176. Infielder Jalin Flores rounded out the quartet at No. 235.
