Important news happening in and around Texas Athletics compiled by Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte

Longhorn Nation,
From DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium to Moody Center, the CHORUS OF TEXAS FIGHT rang out all the livelong day — and it was music to our ears, my friends! A big 'ol game day party, one passionate & proud Burnt Orange family, and our Horns delivered the wins!! It's a glorious time to be rocking the Burnt Orange & White — and we're ready to do it all again as we roll out pregame festivities and welcome UTEP to DKR this Saturday (3:15 p.m. CT/SEC Network)!

Before we look ahead, we've got to look back — because what a SUPER SATURDAY IT WAS ON THE FORTY! Coach Sark and the Horns lit it up, churning out explosive plays on offense and bringing relentless pressure on defense in an all gas, no brakes 38-7 victory over San Jose State. Talk about complimentary football: a 28-0 first-half run fueled by three takeaways from the D — and three TDs from the O cashing them in. Arch was en fuego, flashing the arm and fancy footwork that generated five total touchdowns — four through the air and one on the ground — highlighted by an 83-yard strike to Parker Livingstone (selected as the SEC and National Freshman of the Week), one of the longest plays in Longhorn history. Meanwhile, the defense stayed stingy, holding the Spartans to just 283 yards of offense and a single score, while five different Horns got in on the takeaway party with four turnovers forced. As Coach Sark said postgame: there's still a lot of work ahead and a long season to go, but let's savor the work we put in to earn the win. Now the page is flipped, we're back in the grind, and it's on to another festive Saturday on the Forty as we take dead aim on UTEP!

SUNDAY WAS NOTHING SHORT OF EPIC, VOLLEYBALL-STYLE! History was made with our first-ever match at Moody Center, as nearly 11,000 strong absolutely rocked the house. Y'all brought it big-time — and so did our Longhorns. In a clash of the titans, Coach Elliott and our No. 2-ranked Horns would not be denied, stampeding to a five-set thriller over No. 6 Stanford. The roof was raisin' with every point of that incredible back-and-forth final set, and our Horns showed once again that the pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas belongs only to the strong, never the timid. It was a Tough All Day victory! Now it's on to another big-time matchup as our undefeated Horns travel to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth for a neutral-site bonanza against No. 4 Louisville on Wednesday (8 p.m. CT/ESPN) before returning to the friendly confines of Gregory Gym for another top-10 battle against No. 9 Arizona State on Sunday (2 p.m. CT/ESPNU).
y'all absolutely ROCKED Moody Center for @texasvolleyball 🤘#HookEm pic.twitter.com/33owFT6sCK

And SPEAKING OF HISTORY, what a week it is for that as we honor 10 Longhorn Legends on Friday night at our Texas Athletics Hall of Honor enshrinement. It's always such a festive evening and one you won't want to miss as we pay tribute to the best of the best in Longhorn sports history! The ceremony will start at 7 p.m. CT (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) in the LBJ Auditorium and Conference Center on the UT campus. Tickets are still available for $25 per person. We'll be saluting this year's class on the field at the end of the first quarter on Saturday as well, so be sure to stay in your seats for that!
Oh, and before we dive into all the notes — what a joy it was to take one last victory lap with the Learfield Directors' Cup and all of our championship squads at Saturday's football game. I couldn't be prouder of our student-athletes, coaches and staff who bring it every single day to make Texas the best athletics program in the country! And to Longhorn Nation — THANK YOU! Your passion and never-ending support inspire everything we do. We couldn't do it with y'all!
that's a lotttt of champs in one place 🤘🏆#HookEm pic.twitter.com/4KgKHPQPTX

Plan your gameday commute before heading to the stadium
We continue to ask that you plan your commute to AND from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in advance to make your gameday travels as smooth as possible this season. Please visit TexasLonghorns.com/Parking for individualized parking and traffic flow maps as well as important traffic updates all season long.
There are three traffic flow updates we want to highlight going into this weekend's game:
• If you are traveling from the north on I-35 and need to exit onto MLK Blvd, you must stay on the lower deck to exit onto MLK Blvd. With the TXDOT I-35 construction project, there is no exit onto MLK Blvd from the upper deck.
• For those traveling from the north on I-35 who plan to exit onto 15th St., you can use the lower deck and use the 15th St./MLK Blvd exit OR you can use a temporary exit from the upper deck to access 15th St.
• With I-35 construction permanently closing the 15th St. on-ramp to northbound I-35, postgame traffic patterns have shifted. After the game, some fans leaving from 15th St. will now be guided to the I-35 southbound frontage road, while others will continue south to 12th St. The 12th St. intersection will now take on the role that the 15th St. access point served in previous seasons as a main connection to I-35.

Big Bertha's Bazaar at Moody Center was packed with Burnt Orange and White pageantry in its 2025 debut, and our team is hard at work ensuring you'll find the most unique selection of Longhorns product each and every gameday. Stay in your seats at halftime as the Alumni Band joins the Showband of the Southwest
One of my favorite moments each season is welcoming the University of Texas Alumni Band back to gameday. It's a sight to see when the current Showband of the Southwest and Alumni Band combine forces for one Texas-sized halftime show, so make sure you stay in your seats. You won't want to miss it!
Hydrate before, during, and after this Saturday's game!
Longhorn Nation, this past Saturday was mild for this time of year in Texas, but the current forecast is trending warmer for this weekend's game. We want to remind you that the best way to stay hydrated is by drinking plenty of water before, during AND after the game. We'll have misting stations located on Bevo Blvd and continue to provide 16 free "water monsters" stationed around DKR. You can also bring in one (1) factory-sealed plastic water bottle (up to 1 liter). Please note that no other outside drinks or containers are permitted. And if you need to cool off, St. David's HealthCare is providing four cooling stations at Sections 32, 106, 118, and 124, complete with fans, and plenty of water.

Winning at the Football Family Reunion
Just like the O'Jays sang, "A family reunion, it's so nice to come together for a family reunion." That's just what Longhorn Nation did on Saturday, and outside of a little shower in the first half, the whole day was oh so nice. Nothing, my friends, is better than DKR on a Saturday and the highlights both on and off the field abounded in our 38-7 victory over San José State! How about this? In the span of 10 offensive plays and just 4:56 on the clock at the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second, our Horns put up a flurry of 28 points! The offense was flying around and the defense was forcing turnovers, all starting with the fourth-longest house call by a freshman in our storied history – 83 yards from Arch to our SEC and NATIONAL Freshman of the Week Parker Livingstone. Almost no time later it was the hot potato tip drill and my man Jaylen Guilbeau gave it right back to the offense with the same outcome – Arch to Parker! Rinse and repeat, I'm not sure I've ever seen a simultaneous forced and recovered fumble but that's what Ty'Anthony Smith did, and then it was Arch who switched it up with another set of back-to-back strikes to our sensational transfer tight end Mr. Endries, starting with a beauty from 36 yards out followed by another from 16 that was courtesy of an Anthony Hill forced fumble. I'm telling you, I felt almost like I was at the Texas Tennis Center as quickly as that ball was changing directions! Later on, Arch showed the wheels we've seen so often and finished it off with a fancy tippy toe down the sideline for his FIFTH total TD of the day! In all, the offense put up 472 total yards, the defense forced FOUR turnovers and was even close to a couple more, and then it was time to do some singin' that's music to the ears! It was all so nice, let's do it again this Saturday when the Miners come to town (3:15 p.m. CT/SEC Network)!

Volleyball continues undefeated start with pair of electric wins
Our No. 2-ranked Volleyball team made some noise last week while continuing its hot start to the season. The ladies took care of Rice in four sets behind a monster outing from Torrey Stafford. With a career-high 24 kills, Stafford showed no mercy to the Owls and left Houston with a knockout performance. That team effort simply set the stage for the magic in The Mood on Sunday afternoon, when our squad downed No. 6 Stanford in front an ELECTRIC SELLOUT CROWD. In the team's first five-set match of the season (and our first five-set win over the Cardinal since 1995), our Horns improved to 4-0 with a 3-2 win. Stafford again led the way with 18 kills and 12 digs for her fourth double-double as a Longhorn, and let's not forget about freshman star Cari Spears who went off for a career-high 14 kills. The two combined for 67 kills in two matches last week and the conference got put on notice! Stafford was named the AVCA National Player of the Week in addition to earning SEC Overall and Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Spears earned her first SEC Freshman of the Week award. Let's keep the momentum going ladies!

Men's Golf is off to a solid start to the season
What a unique weekend it was for our Men's Golf program! Senior Tommy Morrison had the well-deserved honor of suiting up in the Red, White and Blue for Team USA and competing at the 50th Walker Cup Match at beautiful Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach. The Walker Cup is the amateur version of the Ryder Cup that pits the top Americans against their counterparts from Great Britain and Ireland. Our guy T-Mo had a spectacular Sunday, earning a win in the morning foursomes (with partner Jackson Koivun from Auburn) and following up that effort with a victory in the afternoon singles to lead Team USA to a 17-9 win over Great Britain and Ireland. The rest of the team took to the course for the first time this season and earned a runner-up showing at the Sahalee Players Championship, finishing just one stroke behind team champion Arizona State. Coach Fields and our guys are the top-ranked team in Golf Channel's preseason poll and will be back on the course at full strength on Sept. 15-17 (Monday-Wednesday) at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Lake Bluff, Ill.
