No. 3 Softball sweeps Saturday doubleheader, extends win streak to 16-straight games

Texas defeated St. Bonaventure, 12-2 (five innings), in the first game before clinching an 8-0 (five innings) win in the nightcap against Prairie View A&M.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas Softball (18-1) swept its Saturday doubleheader in commanding fashion, defeating St. Bonaventure 12-2 (five innings) in the first game before securing an 8-0 (five innings) win vs. Prairie View A&M in the nightcap at McCombs Field. The Longhorns stretched their winning streak to 16-consecutive games with the pair of wins.
Texas improves to 18-1 on the season and 9-0 at home. Texas has won 10 games this season by run-rule, including three in a row.
Texas' pitching staff did not allow an earned run across 10 innings on Saturday. Offensively, Texas combined for 20 runs between the two games, outscoring opponents 20-2.
Game 1
Highlighted by four home runs, the Longhorns defeated St. Bonaventure, 12-2, in five innings to kick off their Saturday double dip.
Sophomore LHP Brenlee Gonzales (2-0) earned the win in the circle. In 5.0 innings of work, Gonzales struck out four and allowed just four hits. Gonzales did not allow an earned run and did not record a walk. Of the Bonnies' four hits, none went for extra bases.
UT outhit St. Bonaventure at an 8-4 clip. Five of Texas' hits went for extra bases, including four home runs.
Texas tied its season-high in home runs after launching four against St. Bonaventure. Senior Reese Atwood, junior Katie Stewart, junior Victoria Hunter and freshman Alisa Sneed each homered.
Sneed, who started in right field, homered for the first time in her career after hitting a grand slam in the first. Stewart finished 2-for-3 with four RBI, including a three-run home run in the second. Atwood and Hunter each cracked a solo home run. It was Stewart's team-leading 11th home run of the season and Atwood's ninth on the season. It was Hunter's first home run of the season.
Freshman MaTaia Lawson had a 2-for-2 outing with a stolen base and run scored. Senior Kaiah Altmeyer went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Game 2
Texas blanked Prairie View A&M, 8-0, in five innings Saturday night. It was the Longhorns' sixth shutout of the season.
Sophomore RHP Cambria Salmon and freshman RHP Hannah Wells combined for a five-hit shutout. Salmon (3-0) fanned a season-high six batters across 3.0 innings, limiting Prairie View to four hits while working around three walks. Wells twirled 2.0 innings in relief and allowed just one hit. Wells had a 1-2-3 fifth frame to close the game.
The Longhorns roped eight base hits on the night, led by Kayden Henry's 2-for-2 performance that included a season-high four RBI off two doubles. Henry also swiped her team-leading 14th stolen base and is a perfect 14-of-14 on the season. Freshman Jaycie Nichols also notched a multi-hit performance after going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. Senior Leighann Goode, senior Kaiah Altmeyer, sophomore Taylor Anderson and senior Ashton Maloney tallied a hit apiece. Katie Stewart was walked three times and also added an RBI after drawing a bases-loaded walk. Reese Atwood knocked in a run on a ground out to short in the first inning.
