AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas Softball (25-1) homered three times to take down Ole Miss, 11-2, in six innings and secure the series victory Saturday afternoon at McCombs Field.
Texas increased its win streak to 23-consecutive games, the second-longest win streak in program history and one win shy of tying the program record of 24, which was set by the 2006 team.
The Longhorns improve to 25-1 overall, 5-0 in SEC play and 13-0 at home. Texas has won both of its conference series this season. Saturday's win vs. Ole Miss secured Texas' 13th run-rule win of the season.
Texas outhit Ole Miss at a 14-6 clip, and the Horns combined for six extra-base hits, including three home runs. Nine different Longhorns amassed a base hit.

Freshman Hannah Wells, who started the game at designated player, pitched 0.2 innings of relief in the top of the sixth. Wells entered the circle with runners at first and second with one away. The Coahoma, Texas, native walked the first batter she faced to load the bases but then recorded a strikeout and forced a ground out to shortstop to escape the jam.
After a quiet first by both teams, Ole Miss gained a 1-0 lead in the second on a double down the left field line. In the bottom half, Atwood bolted a leadoff double to right center for Texas' first hit. Then, junior first baseman Katie Stewart smoked a single down the left field line to score Atwood and even the score at 1-1.
Texas took a permanent lead after a three-run third. First, senior left fielder Kaiah Altmeyer sliced an RBI single to right center to plate Henry for a 2-1 advantage. Then, Atwood barreled a two-run home run to left field to increase the lead to 4-1. The Horns put another three runs on the board in the fourth. Senior right fielder Ashton Maloney commenced the fourth with a leadoff double to the Bermuda Triangle in shallow left center field. Henry then cracked an RBI double to left center for a 5-1 lead. Goode followed suit with a two-run home run for a 7-1 lead.
In the fifth, Goode granted UT an 8-1 edge on an RBI single up the middle to score Maloney. Ole Miss trimmed Texas' lead to 8-2 on a solo home run in the top of the sixth.
