Redshirt senior collects first career weekly league distinction
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Temo Becerra was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Becerra shared the prestigious honor with Florida's Brendan Lawson.
The redshirt senior led the third-ranked Longhorns to a 4-0 week, totaling a .500 average with eight runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, seven RBI and a 2.005 OPS.
At the BRUCE BOLT College Classic, Becerra homered three times in as many contests and reached safely in eight of his 13 plate appearances.
Against No. 9 Coastal Carolina, the 6-foot, 195-pound infielder mounted his first career multi-homer game, lifting a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run jack in the eighth.
Becerra punctuated Texas' BRUCE BOLT College Classic crown with a two-run blast against Ohio State on Sunday.
The Clovis, Calif., native is the second Longhorn to collect an SEC weekly distinction in 2026, joining Dylan Volantis (Feb. 16).
Following its 11th straight victory to open the season, Texas returns home to host Houston Christian on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
