No. 2 Baseball suffers 9-7 setback at Houston

Longhorns draw co-season-high 11 walks in defeat
HOUSTON — Despite matching a season-high 11 walks at the plate, No. 2 Texas fell to Houston, 9-7, at Schroeder Park on Tuesday night.
The Longhorns (20-4) exploded for seven runs midway through the evening, but the Cougars (13-11) scored nine unanswered tallies to rally for the midweek victory.
Houston mounted three runs in each of the fifth, seventh and eighth innings, highlighted by Tyler Cox's go-ahead RBI single.
Two batters later, Blake Fields worked a bases-loaded walk to add an insurance tally for the Cougars.
In the ninth, Houston closer Ryne Rodriguez (2) slammed the door by retiring the side in order.
Harrison Boushele (1-0) earned the victory for the Cougars, pitching 3 2/3 scoreless out of the bullpen. Boushele limited the Longhorns to two hits and one walk.
Texas used eight hurlers in the defeat, beginning with Jason Flores. Flores faced one over the minimum across three scoreless innings. The righty struck out two and yielded just one hit.
Up next, the Longhorns welcome No. 8 Oklahoma to UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The three-game set begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
