Longhorns score double-digit runs for fifth straight game for first time since 1989

AUSTIN, Texas — Josh Livingston and Casey Borba combined for three home runs and 11 RBI, leading No. 3 Texas to a sweep-securing 13-3 victory in an eight-inning affair against USC Upstate at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday afternoon.

Livingston's walk-off two-run blast capped off the Longhorns' third run-rule win in their last four games. Texas (15-0) has now run-ruled its opponents on six occasions across its first 15 contests.

The graduate student launched his first two home runs on The Forty Acres, delivering a grand slam in the sixth before his game-ending shot in the eighth. Livingston finished 3-for-4 with six RBI, mounting his fourth career multi-homer performance.

The Longhorns' second slam of the series ballooned their advantage to 10-3 over the Spartans (7-10), marking the first time Texas has totaled double-digit tallies in five straight games since 1989.

Meanwhile, Borba reached safely three times in the victory, highlighted by a fourth-inning three-run shot. The junior also added a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring double, as part of a five-RBI effort.

Michael Winter (1-0) earned his first career win, retiring six of the seven batters he faced in relief. The freshman struck out three and yielded only one hit in 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

USC Upstate starter Max Bianchini (1-2) was charged with the loss. Bianchini surrendered eight runs, seven earned, across 5 1/3 innings.

Following the four-game homestand, the Longhorns hit the road to face Texas State on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark.
