AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Sam Cozart was selected to the midseason watch list for the Stopper of the Year Award, as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday afternoon.
Cozart is one of just four rookies recognized on the prestigious list, alongside West Virginia's David Perez, Portland's Alex Via and Kent State's Peyton Williams.
The complete list can be viewed HERE.
Cozart has posted a 5-0 mark with a 1.83 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and six saves over 13 appearances. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound righty is tied for the most saves among Power Four true freshmen.
A native of High Point, N.C., Cozart has mounted 49 strikeouts across 34 1/3 innings pitched, while limiting opponents to a .104 batting average.
Texas has won the Stopper of the Year Award more than any other program in the country.
J. Brent Cox garnered the inaugural award in 2005, before Chance Ruffin and Corey Knebel took home the hardware in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
The NCBWA will announce this year's finalists on Wednesday, June 3, with the winner being named on Friday, June 12, at the 2026 Men's College World Series.
