Duo led Longhorns to sweep over Missouri to cap off 40-win regular season.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas standouts Carson Tinney and Dylan Volantis both garnered Southeastern Conference weekly honors, the league office announced Monday morning.
Tinney was selected as the SEC Player of the Week and Volantis earned SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week recognition.
For Tinney, it marks his second career weekly league distinction, after collecting Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week plaudits on April 21, 2025, during his sophomore campaign at Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, Volantis shared the prestigious honor with Florida's Liam Peterson. He was also named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16 and May 4.
A 6-foot-4, 240-pound catcher, Tinney slashed a team-best .538/.625/1.308 with three home runs and 10 RBI to lead the Longhorns to a sweep over Missouri.
The junior left the yard three times in four at-bats, punctuated by his 456-foot grand slam over the 32-foot Monster at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. With his second grand slam of the year, Tinney became just the fifth Texas player to launch 20 blasts in a single season.
The Castle Pines, Colo., native notched his seventh career multi-homer effort and a career-high six RBI in Saturday's series-securing win. He capped off the weekend by reaching safely five times, highlighted by three hits and three RBI.
In his final outing of the regular season, Volantis struck out 11 across a co-career-long seven innings to guide the Longhorns to a 6-3 win against Missouri on Friday evening.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound left-hander limited the Tigers to just one run on two hits. Volantis finished with double-digit punchouts for the fourth time in his last five starts.
The sophomore recorded his first six outs via strikeout, eclipsing the century mark to end the second inning. He retired 21 of the final 24 batters he faced following a solo shot to open the contest.
Six Longhorns have now received SEC weekly accolades in 2026: Volantis (Feb. 16, May 4, May 18) Temo Becerra (March 2), Sam Cozart (March 9, April 20), Ruger Riojas (March 30), Anthony Pack Jr. (April 6) and Tinney (May 18).
No. 5 Texas opens postseason play in the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament at 3 p.m. Friday. The second-seeded Longhorns will square off against No. 7 seed Arkansas, No. 10 seed Tennessee or No. 15 South Carolina at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
