Left-hander garners fourth career weekly league distinction
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns ace Dylan Volantis was selected as the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Volantis shared the prestigious honor with LSU's Zac Cowan. The sophomore was also named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16.
Against No. 10 Mississippi State, Volantis registered a co-career-best 12 strikeouts and scattered three singles across six scoreless innings.
After the Bulldogs notched a two-out infield hit in the first, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound left-hander retired 10 of the next 11 batters he faced. Volantis capped off that stretch by punching out the side on only 10 pitches in the fourth.
Overall, the Thousand Oaks, Calif., native threw 107 pitches, which marked the most by a Longhorn this year.
In Texas' 3-1 victory, the Longhorns totaled 19 strikeouts, tying their most in a nine-inning game in program history.
Volantis is one of five Texas players to have collected SEC weekly accolades in 2026, alongside Temo Becerra (March 3), Sam Cozart (March 9, April 20), Ruger Riojas (March 30) and Anthony Pack Jr. (April 6).
The fourth-ranked Longhorns wrap up their non-conference slate on Tuesday. First pitch against UTSA is set for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
