Before Texas
Rowed for Channel Islands Rowing Club in Oxnard, Calif. … took gold in singles at the Head of the Marina Regatta in Marina Del Rey, Calif.

“Because of the great Academics and Athletics.”
What led you to pursue rowing and what do you love most about it?
“I started rowing because my sister rowed and loved it and I love rowing because you’re able to push and challenge yourself in new ways every day.”
Personal
- Parents are Dan and Susan Schalk
- Has two sisters – Sydney and Samantha
- Began rowing at the age of 16
- Her Samantha also rows for Texas
- Her sister, Sydney, serves in the Coast Guard
- Her grandfather played basketball at Loyola University Chicago and her uncle played football at Northwestern, while her cousin currently swims for Washington University in St. Louis
- Majoring in biology (pre-dental)
- Enjoys hanging out with friends and her dog, Moose
