Third Season at Texas
Clayton Brady is in his third season as Assistant Coach and Director of Operations for the Men’s Golf team at The University of Texas in 2025-26.
In 2024-25, the Longhorns claimed five team titles and 10 top-three finishes during their 13 stroke-play events. Texas concluded the season with a run to the Match Play quarterfinals at the 2025 NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa. A different Longhorn earned medalist honors in three consecutive tournament appearances during the spring season. Tommy Morrison claimed his first collegiate individual title in a playoff at the Amer Ari Invitational, while Luke Potter won his first collegiate individual championship at The Hayt. Christiaan Maas made it three-in-a-row for the Longhorns with his second career individual title at the Pauma Valley Invitational.
Daniel Bennett was named the recipient of the 2025 NCAA Division I Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine, honoring the National Freshman of the Year in men’s collegiate golf. A Division I PING first-team All-American, Bennett also was recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Year in addition to earning first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team mention. Maas was one of five finalists for the Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Workday and one of 10 finalists for the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel. He was selected as a second-team All-America pick by PING/GCAA and third-team All-America choice by Golfweek. Maas was also a first-team All-SEC selection and one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award. Morrison was one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award and was a second-team All-America selection by both PING/GCAA and Golfweek. He was also a second-team All-SEC choice and a member of the 2025 SEC Community Service Team. In addition, Bennett, Maas and Morrison were joined by Luke Potter on the PING All-Central Region team.
During his first year on the Forty Acres, Texas claimed a total of three team victories during the 2023-24 season, including the Big 12 Match Play Championship, the Big 12 Championship and the NCAA Austin Regional, and placed 13th at the 2024 NCAA Championship. The Longhorns won the Big 12 Championship by an 18-stroke margin over runner-up Oklahoma, then returned to record a 16-stroke victory over second-place Tennessee at the NCAA Austin Regional. Christiaan Maas earned a spot on the Golfweek and PING third-team All-America squads. Nathan Petronzio was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, while Maas and Petronzio both were selected to the All-Big 12 Team. Maas, Petronzio, Tommy Morrison and Brian Stark all claimed spots on the PING All-Central Region team.
Prior to joining John Fields’ staff at Texas, Brady served for five years (2018-23) as the head boys’ golf coach at Memorial High School in Houston. During his time at Memorial, Brady guided his team to a runner-up finish at the 2021 state championship and a third-place finish at the 2023 state championship. He was named the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association (NFHS) Golf Coach of the Year for the state of Texas and the Houston Area Golf Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2021. Brady served as the Vice President of the Texas Association of Golf Coaches in 2023. He also was a business teacher and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor while at Memorial High School.
Brady worked for three years (2015-18) as an assistant golf coach for both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Lake Travis High School. While at Lake Travis, the girls team captured back-to-back state championships in 2016 and 2017. Brady also was a special education teacher at Lake Travis.
Brady earned his bachelor of science degree in University Studies with minors in History and Coaching from Texas A&M University in 2015. He also was a graduate of the Texas A&M Coaching Academy. During his undergraduate career, Brady served for three years (2012-15) as a volunteer assistant golf coach at Texas A&M Consolidated High School in College Station.
A native of Lake Travis, Texas, Brady attended Lake Travis High School and was a four-year member of the golf team (2008-11). Brady helped the Cavaliers win the state championship as a senior in 2011 and finish as runner-up in the state championship during his junior season in 2010. He earned a spot on the all-region team in 2010 and was a two-time selection to the academic all-district team.
Brady and his wife, Andi, reside in Austin with their two sons, Bennett and Boone.
