Competed in three meets ... posted a 10,000m personal-best of 36:30.89 for 10th place at the Big 12 Championships … also ran the 5,000m in 17:47.71 at the conference meet … claimed a 5,000m personal best of 16:50.43, placing fourth at the Mt. SAC Relays … was seventh (36:46.47) in the 10,000m at the Texas Relays … opened the season by taking third in the 3,000m (9:59.92) at the Aztec Invitational.

Did not compete.
Cross Country:
Competed in six meets ... posted a 6K season best of 22:01.3 at the Big 12 Championships, where she placed 34th overall and scored fifth for the Longhorns ... sixth for UT and 247th overall at the NCAA Championships, finishing in 22:23.6 ... ran to 41st in 22:22.2 at the NCAA South Central Region meet ... posted a 22:17.8 time at the 6K Pre-Nationals Invitational ... placed 10th at the Grass Routes Grand Prix with a 5K time of 19:17.17 ... crossed in 20:01 at the 5K Pac 12 Preview Invite to open her season.
PRIOR TO TEXAS
Three-year member of Dallas Metroplex Striders Club team under coach Terry Jessup … helped the Striders to USATF national cross country championship in 2011 … four-year letterwinner in cross country and track & field at Pearce under coaches Gregg Larimer and Drew Harden … named cross country team MVP her junior and senior years and track distance MVP her sophomore through senior years … state finalist in cross country her junior and senior seasons, finishing in the top 10 as a senior … was also a 3,200m state finalist during sophomore track campaign … served as captain of Pearce’s cross country team in 2010 and 2011 and of the track team as a senior.

Born in Dallas, Texas ... parents are M’Lissa and Steve Howen ... has one sibling, Kelsey (25) ... graduated in the top 10 percent at J.J. Pearce High School ... received first-team Academic All-State honors ... member of National Honor Society, UIL science team, math club and Spanish club ... three-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2012; spring 2013; fall 2013) ... majoring in chemical engineering.
