Why Texas?
“I chose Texas because the team culture I saw firsthand on my official visit really impressed me. A rower had to return home, and all of the rowers rallied around her for a teary goodbye. I didn't see that kind of support in other programs. Texas was also the obvious choice because of how prestigious the McCombs School of Business is in addition to the incredible rowing program, and it's only a few hours away from home.”
What led you to pursue rowing and what do you love most about it?
“I first went to a ‘National Learn To Row Day’ with my best friend, who I had played volleyball and softball with, who later signed up for a two week Learn To Row camp. When she finished the camp, she convinced me to do it, too. She felt that rowing was way more fun and rewarding than any sport we had ever played, and she thought I had a lot of potential to be good at it if I gave it another shot. She was right, I loved it and joined the team when I finished the camp. I've made better friends through rowing than I have with any other sport, and I love that crew is the ultimate team sport.”
