Brandon Loy led the Longhorns' hit parade, going 3-for-4 with one double, two runs and three RBI. Russell Moldenhauer went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Nebraska drew first blood with a run in the top of the first. With one out, Kale Kaiser drew a walk and scored when Adam Bailey laced a double into the gap in right centerfield.
The Longhorns staked claim to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Keyes reached on an infield single and Lusson drew a walk. Walsh pushed the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt and Moldenhauer plated them with a single through the right side for the 2-1 lead. Tant Shepherd doubled to centerfield to give Texas two runners in scoring position again. Walla and Loy each legged out infield singles to drive in Moldenhauer and Shepherd for the three-run lead.
The Cornhuskers drew within one run of the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third. With one out, DJ Belfonte and Kiser both singled to put runners on the corners. Bailey poked a single through the right side of the infield to plate Belfonte and with two outs Cody Asche singled up the middle to drive in Kiser, trimming the lead to 4-3.
Texas exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third to create separation. The inning featured an RBI infield single by Walla, a two-run double by Loy and a two-run home run by Rupp.
After four scoreless innings, the Longhorns ended the game with three runs in the eighth. With the bases loaded, Walsh hit a wall-banger to right centerfield for a two-run double and with the bases reloaded, Shepherd induced the league's Sunday 10-run rule with a sacrifice fly.
Adam Bailey was the Longhorns' nemesis all weekend and paced Nebraska by going 3-for-4 with one double and two RBI on Sunday.
