STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State evened the series with an 8-3 win earlier today in the completion of last night's halted game, due to a thunderstorm with two outs in the bottom of the second inning.
Texas stranded a season-high 13 batters, including leaving the bases loaded twice without scoring a run. Dillon Peters (1-2) took the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) in 3 2/3 innings. He allowed two hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Vince Wheeland improved to 6-0 on the season with 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Zach Fish doubled Robbie Rea to third in the OSU first. Randy McCurry then singled home Fish and Rea for the early 2-0 lead. After a passed ball moved McCurry to second, Victor Romero hit a fly ball that Texas left fielder Ben Johnson could not handle as the error made it 3-0 for the Cowboys.
Hinojosa belted his first collegiate home run to lead off the second inning. Johnson delivered an RBI single in the fourth for the 3-2 score, but the Cowboys would answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning as Hinojosa's throwing error scored a run to give OSU the 4-2 advantage.
UT scored a run in the eighth, but OSU center fielder Jarrett Higgins made a defensive gem with two outs to rob Payton of an extra-base hit. Higgins used a two-run double to spark a four-run eighth for Oklahoma State to put the game away.
