A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP
• Texas leads the all-time series against Kansas, 43-21, though the Jayhawks took two out of three in 2013 and 2014. Prior to that, Texas had won six of the previous seven series.
• The Longhorns hold a 16-11 advantage in Lawrence. The Jayhawks have won two of the last three series including taking two of three in 2013. Augie Garrido is 39-18 all-time against KU with all of the meetings coming at Texas.
A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS
• Texas enters this weekend's series at Kansas with a 6-6 Big 12 record, two games behind first place Oklahoma State and Oklahoma (both 8-4) in the league standings.
• Though the offense has been slowed as of late, it produced solid numbers the first 25 games of the season with a .270 batting average, .796 OPS (51 doubles, 11 triples, 18 home runs) and average of 5.6 runs per game. Over the last 12 games, Texas has averaged 2.3 runs per game.
• Of Texas' 18 losses, seven have come by one run, including both of the losses to Oklahoma last weekend. UT also has five losses by two runs and six in extra innings. Over the last 12 games, the Horns have dropped four in extras and three by one run.
• The Longhorns rank third in the Big 12 and 21st nationally in ERA (2.92). Parker French (2.15) is sporting a career-low mark while the bullpen has been solid all year with a 2.12.
• Junior left fielder Ben Johnson leads the Big 12 in multi-hit games (18), triples (7), total bases (84) and is tied for second in hits (54). Senior right fielder Collin Shaw leads the league in doubles (16).
• The Texas defense has been solid all season, fielding at a .977 clip which ranks second in the Big 12 and 23rd nationally. The Horns' 36 double plays are third in the league and tied for 21st in the nation.
• UT is outscoring its opponents 55-8 in the seventh and eighth innings, and is 14-0 when leading after seven frames.
