A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP
• Texas leads the all-time series against Oklahoma 143-53-2, including a three game sweep by the Longhorns in Norman in 2014.
• In the 18 years the two rivals have been conference foes (Big 12 began in 1997; the same year Augie Garrido became coach at UT) the Longhorns have won 15 of 18 Big 12 series against the Sooners.
A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS
• Texas' win over Wichita State on Tuesday snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved the Longhorns' home record to 13-4.
• The Longhorns have played their best ball at home this season, scoring two more runs/game than on the road (5.8/3.8) while boasting a staff ERA of 1.87 (more on p. 3).
• Junior left fielder Ben Johnson leads the Big 12 Conference in hits (53), multi-hit games (18), triples (7) and total bases (83), while senior right fielder Collin Shaw leads the league in doubles (14) (Chart on p. 3).
• Johnson, who is on the midseason watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, has six games with three or more hits thus far.
• For the year, the Longhorn bullpen holds a 2.03 ERA. Senior left-hander Kirby Bellow and junior lefties Travis Duke and Ty Culbreth lead the way, combining for a 1.48 ERA and seven saves over 61 innings.
• Texas has 89 extra base hits (56 2B, 13 3B, 20 HR) through its first 33 games. At this point of 2014, the Longhorns had 64 extra base knocks (46 2B, 11 3B, 7 HR).
• The Texas offense leads the Big 12 in triples (13) and is second in walks (134).
• The Longhorn pitchers are third in the conference with a 2.97 ERA and .239 batting average against, while the defense ranks second in fielding percentage (.976) and third in double plays turned (32).
• UT is outscoring its opponents 54-4 in the seventh and eighth innings, and is 13-0 when leading after seven frames.
