- Texas will be facing off against Iowa State for the 24th time in program history on Friday night in Ames. The Longhorns control the series by a 20-2-1 total, having won the last six meetings between the two programs. In Ames, UT leads by an 8-1-1 count with the last loss to the Cyclones in the entire series coming on the road back on Oct. 18, 2009, 1-0. This year's meeting is especially important as UT and ISU are fighting for a spot in the annual Big 12 Championship.
- The Longhorns are coming off a 2-0 shutout victory over first-year program Kansas State on Fri., Oct. 7th, that ended a season-long three-match losing streak. Texas out-shot the Wildcats by a commanding 19-3 total, including 11-1 over the opening 45 minutes of play. Junior forward Olivia Brook was credited with her second match-winning goal of the campaign by scoring off a corner via header just 55 seconds into the contest. KSU later contributed an "own goal" 1:56 into the second half to round out the scoring.
- The injury bug continues to strike the Texas soccer program at a truly alarming rate in 2016. Already playing without last season's second leading scorer, as redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores suffered an ACL tear in her left knee just 22 minutes into the season-opener against Seattle, the Longhorns have now lost UT's 2015 & 2016 leading scorer in sophomore forward Alexa Adams for the rest of the 2016 campaign. The Lancaster, Calif., native went down 42 minutes into the 2-1 (2OT) loss to Oklahoma State on Sept. 30 with an ACL tear in her left knee. Among other players to miss significant time because of nagging injuries this season are Monique Iannella, Morgan Murphy, Nakia Graham, Cyera Hintzen and Kayra Dollas, all extremely valuable contributors who have registered either goals or assists in 2016.
- Texas is definitely spreading it around when it comes to points so far over the opening 14 matches of 2016. FIFTEEN different Longhorns have points thus far this season, while 10 different UT players have scored goals. DURING THE 2015 CAMPAIGN, ONLY 11 LONGHORNS REGISTERED POINTS DURING THE ENTIRE SEASON! Freshmen and newcomers are making their presence felt with Kyra Falcone, Emma Jett, Tecora Turner, Monique Iannella, Cyera Hintzen and Atu Mshana already owning either goals or assists this year.
- The Longhorns have truly benefitted from other teams' mistakes thus far this season, getting the gift of THREE opponent "own goals" over their first 14 matches (vs. Detroit, North Texas and Kansas State). Two of the "own goals" proved to be match-winners in victories over Detroit and North Texas, but only the score against the Mean Green on Sept. 16 provided the true final difference in UT's 1-0 triumph.
- Texas loves to jump on its opponents early in matches in 2016 as the Longhorns have scored their first goal of the match during the opening 15:21 of six separate contests this season and five times over the initial 9:38. UT holds a 4-2-0 overall record in such instances this season.
