- Texas will be facing rival Texas Tech for the 25th time in program history with UT maintaining a commanding 14-6-4 advantage all-time. The last three matches in the series have each gone to overtime with the Longhorns winning two of those on "golden goals" from Olivia Brook (W, 1-0, 2014 in Austin) and Jasmine Hart (W, 2-1, 2015 in Lubbock). The other match of the three requiring extra time occurred during the 2014 Big 12 Championship quarterfinals with the Burnt Orange & White advancing 6-5 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 (2OT) tie.
- The margins in the series against Texas Tech have recently proven razor-thin with the last 11 meetings dating back to Sept. 30, 2007, ending in ties, requiring overtime or being settled by one-goal margins. In all, six of those 11 contests have gone to extra time with UT going 2-1-3 in those match-ups. Texas won last year's meeting in Lubbock over #17 Texas Tech on a "golden goal' by Jasmine Hart with just 21 seconds remaining in the second overtime, marking the latest "golden goal" winner for the Burnt Orange & White since the collegiate rules were altered to two 10-minute overtime sessions.
- The Longhorns are coming off a 2-0 shutout loss at Iowa State last Friday night in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones set the tone just 4:25 in as Hannah Cade scored off a cross into the middle, even though the Longhorns out-shot ISU over the opening 45 minutes, 13-8. Iowa State added a second goal in the 70th minute for insurance on the way to victory.
- The difference between home and road offensive effectiveness this season for Texas is fairly striking. UT's offense is averaging 1.9 goals and 16.9 shots-per-match at home this season, while totaling just 1.0 goals and 13.4 shots-per-match on the road. Conversely, the Longhorns defense is allowing just 0.8 goals and 9.3 shots-per-match at home while giving up 1.4 goals and 15.2 shots-per-match on the road.
- The injury bug continues to strike the Texas soccer program at a truly alarming rate in 2016. Already playing without last season's second leading scorer, as redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores suffered an ACL tear in her left knee just 22 minutes into the season-opener against Seattle, the Longhorns also lost UT's 2015 & 2016 leading scorer in sophomore forward Alexa Adams for the rest of the 2016 campaign. The Lancaster, Calif., native went down 42 minutes into the 2-1 (2OT) loss to Oklahoma State on Sept. 30 with an ACL tear in her left knee. Among other players to miss significant time because of nagging injuries this season are Monique Iannella, Morgan Murphy, Nakia Graham, Cyera Hintzen and Kayra Dollas, all extremely valuable contributors who have registered either goals or assists in 2016.
- Texas holds a 16-15-2 overall record in matches following a loss (total doesn't carry over losses from end of season to the next) under the guidance of Texas head coach Angela Kelly. UT was 4-6 in such instances back during her initial campaign of 2012, 3-2-0 after a loss in 2013, 3-3-1 in 2014, 3-1-1 in 2015 and is 3-3 so far in 2016.
- Texas holds a 15-6-3 record against teams from the "Lone Star State" under the guidance of head coach Angela Kelly. UT was solid against such foes last season, going 3-1 in such games while facing four Texas opponents: Abilene Christian (W, 2-1 on Sept. 13), TCU (W, 3-0 on Oct. 11), Texas Tech (W, 2-1/2OT on Oct. 16) and Baylor, (L, 1-2, on Oct. 25). UT is 2-0-1 in such contests this season, having beaten Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a preseason exhibition to open the 2016 season back on Aug. 12, 3-0, having routed Sam Houston State, 7-0, on Sept. 2, topped North Texas on Sept. 16, 1-0, and having tied Baylor in Waco on Sept. 23, 1-1 (2OT). During the 2016 regular-season, the Longhorns are scheduled to face off against five foes from Texas: Sam Houston State, North Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech and TCU.
- Texas' defense is particularly stingy, having not allowed more than two goals in a single match since allowing three during a 3-1 loss at TCU back on Oct. 17, 2014, a stretch of 41 consecutive contests. In fact, an opponent has only scored more than two goals in a contest four times since head coach Angela Kelly took over the program (three times in her first season on the Forty Acres in 2012) and ONLY ONCE OVER THE LONGHORNS' LAST 84 MATCHES!
