- The injury bug continues to strike the Texas soccer program at a truly alarming rate in 2016. Already playing without last season's second leading scorer, as redshirt sophomore forward Mikayla Flores suffered an ACL tear in her left knee just 22 minutes into the season-opener against Seattle, the Longhorns have now lost UT's 2015 & 2016 leading scorer in sophomore forward Alexa Adams for the rest of the 2016 campaign. The Lancaster, Calif., native went down 42 minutes into the 2-1 (2OT) loss to Oklahoma State on Sept. 30 with an ACL tear in her left knee. Among other players to miss time because of nagging injuries this season are Monique Iannella, Morgan Murphy, Nakia Graham, Cyera Hintzen and Kayra Dollas, all extremely valuable contributors who have registered either goals or assists in 2016.
- Texas will be facing off against Kansas State for the first time this season as the Wildcats are currently in year number one of their soccer program. In its first year KSU isn't playing a Big 12 Conference schedule and tonight's match won't count for the Longhorns in the league standings. In fact, UT is the only Big 12 school that Kansas State is competing against in 2016.
- The Longhorns are coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Kansas in Big 12 action last Sunday. Texas out-shot the Jayhawks by a 15-13 total, and both teams had five shots on goal, but UT was undone by a Katie McClure goal with just 4:37 left in regulation.
- Overtime hasn't been kind to the 2016 Longhorns as Texas is currently 0-3-1 in "golden goal" extra time this season. The three OT losses equal the most in a single season in program history, tying the 2012, 2011, 2000 and 1999 Texas squads in the tough luck category. UT's stretch of three consecutive OT matches equaled the second-most extra time contests in a row in program history (Sept. 7-19, 2008 & Oct. 22-27, 2004), behind only a stretch of four-straight OT match-ups from Sept. 16-30, 1994.
- The difference between home and road offensive effectiveness this season for Texas is fairly striking. UT's offense is averaging 1.9 goals and 16.7 shots-per-match at home this season, while totaling just 1.3 goals and 11.8 shots-per-match on the road. Conversely, the Longhorns defense is allowing just 0.9 goals and 10.0 shots-per-match at home while giving up 1.3 goals and 13.8 shots-per-match on the road.
- Several Longhorns seem to ALWAYS be on the pitch. Senior defender Isabelle Kerr and freshman defender Atu Mshana have played all 1,218 possible minutes this season, while freshman defender Emma Jett (1,182), senior midfielder Julia Dyche (1,179) and sophomore midfielder Katie Glenn (1,083) and have been on the field for at least 1,000 of the available minutes.
- A pair of Longhorns seem to always be penciled in the line-up as senior midfielder Julia Dyche has earned at least some playing time in Texas' last 61 matches, while senior defender Isabelle Kerr has appeared in 55 of UT's last 56 contests dating back to each player's freshman campaign in 2013.
