Baylor plated four runs with two outs in the second and the Longhorns offense was held to two on the night.
Box Score
WACO, Texas—A four-run Baylor second inning sent Texas Baseball to a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Bears on Thursday night at Baylor Ballpark.
The Bears (21-13, 4-6 Big 12) got to Longhorns starter Nolan Kingham (5-3) early in the ballgame. In the second inning, Baylor got things started with a two-out rally. Two walks and a single loaded the bases for Tucker Cascadden who hit a double down the left field line to plate two and give the Bears the lead. One batter later, a passed ball allowed another runner to score before an RBI single gave Baylor a 4-0 advantage in the second.
Texas (21-13, 4-6 Big 12) got one back in the fifth inning thanks to a Kody Clemens RBI double, but the Bears would respond with two in the bottom of the frame via a two-run homer, the fifth long ball allowed by Kingham this season.
Longhorns relievers Parker Joe Robinson and Jon Malmin combined for three scoreless innings of relief, but Texas could not mount a full comeback despite plating one run in the ninth inning.
The teams return to action tomorrow night in a 6:35 p.m. matchup at Baylor Ballpark. RHP Morgan Cooper will take the mound for the Longhorns.
