Five from Men’s Golf to play in U.S. Amateur

Texas Men’s Golf will feature five players on the current roster to play at Riviera Country Club.
AUSTIN, Texas – Five players on the Texas Men's golf team have qualified to play at the U.S. Amateur at The Riviera Country Club and Bel-Air Country Club from Monday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 20.
Seniors Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler, junior Steven Chervony, sophomore Spencer Soosman, and freshman Kristoffer Reitan will compete in the event.
Scheffler, Ghim and Reitan automatically qualified for the event with their World Amateur Golf Rankings. Soosman won his qualifier in at Andover Country Club and Chervony at Seagate Country Club in July.
The event will be played at Riviera Country Club in Palisades, Calif., the site of the Longhorns' 2012 National Championship, while the stroke co-host venue will be the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
The two rounds of stroke play will take place at both courses, while 36-holes of stroke play will determine the 64 players who advance to match play at Riviera.
