AUSTIN, Texas—No. 23 Texas Baseball (9-5) was limited to six hits on Friday night in a 7-1 loss at the hands of No. 7 Stanford (12-2) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Stanford got on the board in the first inning thanks to a solo homer by Nico Hoerner. The Cardinal got to starter Nolan Kingham (2-2) once again the third off a two-out single to put Texas behind, 2-0.

The Longhorns got something going in the bottom of the third off Kris Bubic (3-0) when Sam Bertelson and Duke Ellis drew inning-opening walks. David Hamilton followed with a bunt single to load the bases but the Longhorns were unable to scratch one across.

Stanford opened things up in the fifth when, with one out, Bradon Wulff homered over the left field wall to make it 5-0 in favor of the Cardinal.

In the seventh, the Longhorns finally broke through against the Stanford staff. After DJ Petrinsky walked to open the frame, Tate Shaw doubled to chase Bubic and put two in scoring position. With Kamron Fields on to pinch-run for Petrinsky, Duke Ellis added an RBI groundout to put Texas on the board.

Stanford extended its lead in the eighth when it loaded the bases off Matt Whelan. Beau Ridgeway entered in relief and walked in a run before allowing a sac fly to plate another.

The 7-1 advantage proved too great for Texas to overcome and the Cardinal evened the series at one game apiece.

The two teams return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field tomorrow for a 2:30 p.m. contest. Right-hander Blair Henley will oppose Stanford's Erik Miller on the hill.
