The Longhorns won the Big 12 Conference series after wins on Friday and Saturday.
NORMAN, Okla.—Unable to mount another comeback, Texas Baseball (24-14, 11-4 Big 12) dropped the series finale, 6-0, to No. 16 Oklahoma (26-13, 9-3) on Sunday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park. It is the first shutout of the Longhorns since April 30, 2016.
Oklahoma once again took an early lead over Texas in the ballgame, plating one in the second and a pair in the third to go out in front, 3-0, off starter Blair Henley (5-4).
In the bottom of the fifth, the Sooners added to their lead off a combination of Henley, Beau Ridgeway, and Josh Sawyer, plating three runs before Parker Joe Robinson escaped the jam with a strikeout.
The Longhorns offense had trouble getting things going off of Oklahoma's Nathan Wiles. Zach Zubia added a single and double in the game, extending his reached base safely streak to 37 games, while Tate Shaw, Masen Hibbeler, and David Hamilton added a hit apiece.
Robinson was solid in relief for Texas, tossing 2.1 shutout frames, scattering three hits and striking out three. Matteo Bocchi tossed a scoreless eighth.
The Longhorns return to action on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. contest against UTRGV at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
