Three homers power Baseball past Islanders on Tuesday night

Masen Hibbeler and Michael McCann added solo homers before Kody Clemens hit a grand slam in the Longhorns' win.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—Three home runs from the offense powered Texas Baseball (19-12) to a 9-3 win over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (10-18) on Tuesday night at Whataburger Field.
The Longhorns got things going early and did not relent. Junior Masen Hibbeler hit his second homer of the season in the opening frame and Texas tacked on two more in the inning thanks to RBI singles from David Hamilton and Jake McKenzie.
Up 3-0, right-hander Blair Henley went to work on the mound and tossed three shutout innings. He walked one and allowed two hits while striking out three to move to 4-2 on the season.
Behind Henley, the offense added another run in the third when McKenzie squeezed home Hamilton to push the Texas lead to 4-0.
In the fourth, it was catcher Michael McCann's turn. The redshirt-junior turned on the 1-0 offering and drove it over the left field wall for his first career home run, extending the Texas lead to 5-0.
After a pair of scoreless innings on the mound from Nico O'Donnell, the offense put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth.
Duke Ellis reached on an error before McCann added his second hit of the game on a bunt single to put two aboard. After Hibbeler walked with one out to load the bases, Kody Clemens got ahold of one for his first career grand slam. The homer, Clemens' eighth of the season, was the first grand slam for a Longhorn since his brother, Kacy Clemens, hit one on April 8, 2017, vs. Oklahoma.
Kamron Fields kept the Islanders off the board for the next two innings before they plated three in the ninth of Beau Ridgeway but the Longhorns held on for the 9-3 win.
Hamilton finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored, an RBI, and his 18th stolen base of the season. McCann added two hits in the game, McKenzie drove in two, and Clemens finished with four RBI.
The Longhorns return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday night for the first of three Big 12 Conference games against Baylor.
