No. 1 Men’s Golf sits in third after day one of the OFCC/Illini Invitational

Sophomore Pierceson Coody tops the leaderboard to pace Longhorns on day one.
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Sophomore Texas men's golfer Pierceson Coody topped the leaderboard Friday with a three-under-par 67 to pace the No. 1 Longhorns on the opening day of the OFCC/Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Longhorns are currently in third place overall with a one-over 281. No. 3 Georgia Tech leads the field with a two-under par 278, and No. 10 Pepperdine sits in second at par.
GLANCE AT THE LINE-UP
-Pierceson Coody leads the field after shooting a three-under-par 67. Coody tallied five birdies and made par on 11 holes.
-Cole Hammer finished day one tied for 21st with a plus-one 71.
-In his first collegiate tournament, rookie Travis Vick ended day one tied with Hammer at 21st with a plus-one 71. Vick recorded 13 holes at par on the day.
-Parker Coody is currently tied at 38th after shooting a plus-two 72. Coody finished with 13 holes at par, and birdied two holes.
-Will Thomson sits tied for 47th after shooting a plus-three 73 in his first collegiate competition. Thomson birdied three holes on the first day of competition.

The second round of the OFCC/Illini Invitational is set to take place on Saturday. Tee times for the Longhorns begin at 9:30 a.m. CT at Olympia Fields Country Club.
