The Longhorns’ effort was buoyed by three top-five finishers on the individual leaderboard.
LAREDO, Texas – The Texas Men's Golf team concluded its first tournament of the spring on Tuesday, placing second at the Border Olympics. The Longhorns shot a 6-over 870 as a team and were buoyed by three top-five individual finishers.
Hunter Ostrom, a graduate transfer, was the best of the bunch this week, as she shot a 4-under 212 to finish tied atop the leaderboard with Texas A&M's Dan Erickson. Ostrom was bested by Erickson on the second playoff hole to fall just shy of winning individual medalist honors on Tuesday.
Behind him, senior Christoffer Bring shot a 3-under 213 over three rounds at the Laredo Country Club. His effort helped him earn a third-place finish, the best of his career as an individual in a full field. Bring shot a 4-under 68 on Tuesday to vault him up the leaderboard after shooting a 71 and 74 in Monday's first two rounds.
Mason Nome, a sophomore, completed the trio of top-five Longhorns with a tie for fifth place. Nome shot a 1-under 215 over three rounds to earn his place. His best was a 2-under showing in Monday's second round, and followed it up with an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
