No. 7 Men’s Golf in third at Big 12 Championship

Three Longhorns are in the top-10 individually through 36 holes at Prairie Dunes.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The No. 7 Texas men's golf team opened the 2021 Big 12 Championship with a 36-hole effort at the Prairie Dunes Country Club on Monday. Sitting in third place after two rounds, the Longhorns (+25; 585) are eight shots off the leaders, Oklahoma, and have three individuals currently occupying top-10 spots on the leaderboard.
Pierceson Coody and Cole Hammer, the top two in the lineup this week, are both currently tied for fourth at 4-over par. Coody shot a 71 followed by a 73 in his two trips around the course on Monday, while Hammer shot a 70 followed by a 74 in tough playing conditions. Hammer's opening even-par 70 was the only round at par or better by a Longhorn on the day, and he was one of only three players in a 50-man field to shoot par or better in the opening round.
Behind those two, Mason Nome is currently in a tie for 10th at 7-over par. Nome shot an opening 74 followed by a 3-over 73 in his second round to gain his standing on the leaderboard. Parker Coody joined Nome as Longhorns to lower their score in the second round, shooting a 6-over 76 followed by a 5-over 75 in his first and second rounds, respectively. Coody is tied for 23rd after 36 holes.
Travis Vick is tied for 28th at 12-over par. He shot a 5-over 75 followed by a 7-over 77 in his two rounds Monday.
The third round of the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes tees off Tuesday morning. Live results will be available throughout the day on Golfstat.com.
