Senior outfielder Kaitlyn Washington tied the Texas career program record with her 48th double

AUSTIN, Texas – It was a night of celebration for No. 11/14 Texas softball (36-9, 10-6 Big 12 Conference) on Friday at Red & Charline McCombs Field as the Longhorns honored five seniors in a pre-game ceremony before run-ruling Baylor (27-16, 8-7 Big 12 Conference) behind an 11-hit offensive attack, 8-0 (6 inn.).

Senior left fielder Kaitlyn Washington registered her 48th career double to tie former Longhorns standout Jodi Reeves' 21-year old program record.
Texas honored Taylor Ellsworth, MK Tedder, Shannon Rhodes, Kaitlyn Washington and Molly Jacobsen in a pre-game senior ceremony.
Junior second baseman Janae Jefferson went 2-for-4 against Baylor to pick up her 250th and 251st career hits. The Humble, Texas, product now needs just four more hits to break former Longhorns standout Brejae Washington's program career hits record (254).
Texas registered its 15th run-rule victory of the season to tie the 2019 Longhorns for the program single-season record.
The Longhorns have now scored at least three runs in an inning 54 times this year.
Texas improved to 31-1 this season when out-hitting its opponent.
The Longhorns are 33-2 when scoring at least three runs in a game this season.
Texas picked up its 27th home win of the year to tie the 2019 Longhorns for the fifth-most home victories in a single-season.

Sophomore Shea O'Leary (11-3) allowed just two hits, no runs, walked one and struck out four over 5.0 innings of work in earning the win. Freshman Ryleigh White walked one during a single frame of scoreless relief.

The Details

Texas wasted no time grabbing the lead off Baylor starter Gia Rodoni by putting together a two-run outburst in the bottom of the first. Jefferson kick-started the attack with a leadoff single to short before moving to second on Rhodes' walk. After a sacrifice bunt, Iakopo delivered by driving a two-run single to right center to hand the Longhorns the early advantage.

Baylor got its first hit on a leadoff single from third baseman Taylor Ellis to open the second, but she was quickly wiped off the base paths on Texas' 1-4-3 double play.

The Longhorns quickly added three more in the bottom of the second to make it 5-0. Colleen Sullivan's leadoff walk and Corona's first hit of the contest were quickly cashed in on a Jefferson RBI single down the left field line and a Rhodes two-run double to right center.

BU left fielder Lou Gilbert registered a two-out double in the top of the third, to become the Lady Bears' first runner in scoring position, but was left stranded on an inning-ending fly out to left.

Facing reliever White in the top of the sixth, Baylor center fielder Hannah Smith walked to open the frame and eventually moved as far as third with two outs. The UT freshman hurler got first baseman Goose McGlaun to hit an inning-ending bouncer to short to preserve the shutout.

With an opportunity to end the game early via run-rule, Texas' senior honorees worked together on the final offensive outburst in the bottom of the sixth. Ellsworth started things with a single to left, Tedder followed with a double to left center and Kaitlyn Washington drove in two with a sinking liner past the left fielder. With two retired, Rhodes stepped to the dish and singled just in front of diving BU center fielder Smith to plate Washington and end the contest.
