- The Longhorns have been dangerous on corner kicks so far in 2021. Counting the exhibition win over Abilene Christian and its season-opening road trip to UCF and Florida, Texas has now scored three of its four combined goals off corners. After Texas netted two off the set piece against ACU, senior midfielder Carlee Allen registered UT's first official 2021 goal with a leaping header to drive home Lexi Missimo's service at the 60:01 mark at Florida.
- Texas is 16-10-1 all-time in home-opening matches and 5-3-1 under the guidance of 10th-year head coach Angela Kelly. Last season, the Burnt Orange & White dropped a 1-0 decision to Kansas in its initial contest at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
- In facing No. 11 Georgetown on Sunday, it will mark the first time Texas hosts a nationally-ranked team in its home opener since losing 2-0 to No. 5 North Carolina back on Aug. 28, 2015. In all, the Longhorns are 1-6-1 when starting the home slate with a rated foe with the lone win coming over No. 3 Penn State back on Sept. 1, 2006.
- Texas and Georgetown are meeting for the first time in either program's history. The Longhorns are 3-1-1 all-time against current members of the BIG EAST Conference.
- Texas is leaning hard on its talented youth so far in 2021. In all, freshmen have made 10 of 22 possible starts (45%) for the Longhorns through two matches, while freshmen and sophomores have combined for 14 of the 22 starts (64%). Against UCF and Florida, Texas started five freshmen and two sophomores in each match (Freshmen - Lexi Missimo, Tati Fung, Holly Ward, EmJ Cox, Trinity Byars; Sophomores - Kelsey Hranicky, Lauren Lapomarda).
- Texas enters Sunday needing just three more wins to reach 300 all-time program victories. The Longhorns overall record is currently 297-200-54 (.588).
- Texas boasts a number of current professional players from its ranks of Texas-Exes, including Abby Smith (Portland Thorns) and Phoenetia Browne (SC Sand - Germany). Most recently, Cyera Hintzen and Haley Berg have joined the group by signing pro deals to play overseas. Hintzen began her career back in July 2021 and has now scored four goals in helping lead Valur Reykjavik (Iceland) to the Urvalsdeild kvenna title. Berg is slated to begin her career in Spain with Zaragoza CFF of the Segunda Division Pro on Sept. 5.
- Senior midfielder Julia Grosso recently made history as part of the Canadian Senior National Team's gold medal win over Sweden at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In helping Canada to its first gold medal, Grosso earned five overall caps (Great Britain, Chile, Brazil, United States, Sweden) and made the decisive sixth-round shootout penalty kick in the final to seal the extra-time title triumph over the Swedes.
- Julia Grosso also became the first Olympian in Texas soccer history and is now the first Olympic medalist in program annals.
- Five of Texas' eight 2021 signees played together for Solar SC (Byars, Missimo, EmJ Cox, Miller, Stanley) under head coach Derek Missimo (Lexi's dad), while McFarland, Nobles, Claros, Lapomarda, Sydney Cox and Pace are also previous Solar FC products. Tatiana Fung grew up playing alongside Missimo and Byars on teams in both California and Texas, while Holly Ward was part of the same Vancouver Whitecaps program that produced Grosso, Regan and Akindoju.
