No. 2 Baseball wins midweek game against Central Arkansas, 7-2

Justin Eckhardt tossed a career high six shutout innings, striking out seven batters.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Baseball beat Central Arkansas, 7-2, to extend its win streak to five games on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Justin Eckhardt pitched a career high of six shutout innings, striking out seven batters. Eckhardt did not issue any walks and picked up the first win of his career.
Skyler Messinger had a great night, going 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Silas Ardoin went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Ivan Melendez went 1-for-4 and hit his 10th home run of the season.
Trey Faltine put the Longhorns on the board in the second inning with an RBI ground out to the Bears shortstop, driving in Murphy Stehly. Messginer made the score 2-0 with an RBI single to score Ardoin.
Ivan Melendez then extended the Longhorns lead to 3-0 with a home run over right field in the third inning.
With the bases loaded in the fourth, Cam Constantine hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in Faltine. Douglas Hodo III then hit a double to right field bringing in Messinger. Eric Kennedy capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly, scoring Mitchell Daly and bringing the score to 6-0 in the fourth.
Ardoin made the score 7-0 after hitting a double and coming around to score on two wild pitches.
Central Arkansas scored a pair of runs over the final three innings. Relief pitchers Travis Sthele, Luke Harrison, Coy Cobb and Aaron Nixon combined to close out the last three innings.
The Texas Longhorns will travel to Lubbock, Texas to begin Big 12 conference play on Friday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park against Texas Tech.
