No. 7 Baseball drops series at Kansas State

The Longhorns will look to salvage the series against the Wildcats on Saturday at 4 p.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 7 Texas Baseball dropped the series to Kansas State with an 8-1 loss on Friday at Tointon Family Stadium.
The Longhorns (25-12, 5-6) will look to salvage the series against the Wildcats on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Gavin Kash, making his first career start at first base, went 2-for-3 with a double. Silas Ardoin was 1-for-3 with a solo homer for the second-consecutive game.
Kansas State got on the board first with two runs in the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats scored another run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
Texas got a run back in the seventh on a solo homer by Ardoin to trim the lead to 3-1.
The Wildcats got the runs right back in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer off of reliever Coy Cobb to go up 5-1.
Kansas State added to its lead in the bottom of the eighth, taking advantage of two errors to score three more runs and lead 8-1.
Tristan Stevens started and pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. The loss dropped him to 4-4 on the season.
