ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 8 Texas Baseball gave up four late runs and lost 4-2 to Oklahoma on Saturday at Globe Life Field. Silas Ardoin hit a pair of solo home runs but that was the only offense for the Longhorns in the game.
The Longhorns (20-9, 2-3) will look to win the series over the sooners on Sunday at noon at Globe Life Field, with the game scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN.
Tristan Stevens pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out six batters but took the loss and dropped to 4-2 on the season.
Ardoin gave the Longhorns a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning with his first solo homer of the game.
The Sooners came right back in the bottom of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead after Stevens allowed a pair of one-out singles. Aaron Nixon came out of the bullpen and issued a walk before allowing the go-ahead two-run single.
Oklahoma tacked on two runs to the lead on two hits, a walk and an error in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 4-1.
Ardoin then hit his second homer of the day, with one out in the ninth to trim the lead to 4-2. Trey Faltine single and Mitchell Daly walked to put two runners on but a lineout by Dylan Campbell ended the game.
