No. 19 Baseball beats Baylor, 11-9

The Longhorns pounded out 15 hits and held on for a narrow win to open the series.
WACO, Texas – No. 19 Texas Baseball held on for an 11-9 win over Baylor to open the series at on Friday Baylor Ballpark.
The Longhorns (25-11, 7-3) pounded out 15 hits, as every player in the Texas batting order had at least one hit and at least one RBI. Six of the Longhorn starters had two hits, while Garret Guillemette was the only one with two RBI.
Lucas Gordon pitched six shutout innings, scattering five hits and issuing just one walk in the game to earn his fourth win of the season. The biggest jam he faced came in the third inning when Baylor got two singles but Gordon was able to get a groundball double play.
Texas took a 2-0 lead on three hits, including a pair of doubles, in the top of the second. Porter Brown started the inning with a single and Jack O'Dowd drove him in with an RBI double to right-center. With two outs, Jared Thomas hammered an RBI double off the wall in right-center to drive in O'Dowd.
The Longhorns tacked on a run in the third to go up 3-0. Eric Kennedy started the inning with a bunt single, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Brown.
Texas added another run to the lead in the fourth inning to make the score 4-0. Thomas got on base with a bunt single and came around to score on a single by Kennedy.
Another run came home in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Rylan Galvan to drive in Garret Guillemette, who reached on an error.
The Longhorns got another run on the board in the eighth to extend the lead to 6-0. Guillemette hit an RBI single up the middle to drive in Campbell.
Baylor hit a pair of homers in the eighth inning to trim the Texas lead to 6-3.
Texas responded with five runs on four hits in the top of the ninth to take an 11-3 lead and put the game away. Galvan got the inning started with a single before Mitchell Daly drove him in with an RBI triple to dead center. After a walk to Thomas, a wild pitch allowed Daly to score from third.
Campbell kept the inning going with an RBI single up the middle and Kennedy reached on an error. Powell drove in Campbell with an RBI groundout and Guillemette capped off the scoring with an RBI single to left.
Baylor scored six more runs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the final score to 11-9.
