The Longhorns and Cardinal will play a winner take all Game 3 on Monday at 7 p.m. CT.

STANFORD, Calif. – Texas Baseball dropped Game 2 of the NCAA Stanford Super Regional, 8-3, to Stanford on Sunday at Sunken Diamond.

The Longhorns (42-21) and Cardinal will play a winner take all Game 3 on Monday at 7 p.m. CT.

Lebarron Johnson Jr. started and pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Travis Sthele pitched four innings out of the bullpen with three runs allowed on six hits. Andre Duplantier and Chase Lummus each recorded one out in the top of the ninth.

Mitchell Daly had the Longhorns' best day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Jared Thomas went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple, while Porter Brown and Eric Kennedy each hit a double.

Stanford opened the scoring in the first with a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead, but Johnson was able to strand the bases loaded.

Texas grabbed a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs on two hits in the third inning. Daly started the inning with a single into right field and Thomas followed with an RBI triple. Dylan Campbell drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Cardinal had an immediate answer in the fourth, scoring a two-out run to tie the game up 2-2. Stanford then retook the lead in the fifth, scoring three runs to go up 5-2 and chase Johnson out of the game.

Daly launched a solo home run in the seventh inning, his seventh of the season, to trim the Stanford lead to 5-3.

Stanford was able to put the game away in the top of the ninth with three runs to extend the lead out to 8-5.
