Cross Country sweeps Southwestern-Concordia opener

Texas led by transfer Devin Hart and freshman Aishling Callanan.
GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Longhorns cross country program swept the Southwestern-Concordia Opener with the perfect score of 15 points for each team on Friday.
The No. 13 ranked men were led by transfer Devin Hart, juniors Isaac Alonzo and Rodger Rivera and senior Haftu Knight who all crossed the line together. Hart made his Longhorns debut winning the men's 5K with his time of 14:51.2.
Abraham Avila-Martinez led the next pack of Longhorns across the finish line with his time of 15:03.6, while Jack Boyd, Emmanuel Sgouros, Antonio Pena, Henry Coughlan and Hudson Bennett all finished within .01 seconds of each other.
Nigusom Knight made his Texas debut with an 11th-place finish at 15:12.9 and Hudson Heikkinen finished just behind.
The women's side were led by freshman Aishling Callanan who won her first collegiate race of her career in the 5K with a time of 18:10.1. Fellow freshman Haley Harper finished in second at 18:10.2 and sophomore Brighton Mooney was third at 18:10.2.
Texas took the top-nine positions to also score 15 points by Katarzyna Kwiatkowski, Maddie Hatfield, Virginia Knight, Natasja Beijen, Allyson Little and Amity Ebarb. Camille Napier rounded out the Longhorns in action after finishing 11th with her time of 19:30.3.
Texas travels to Stillwater, Okla., for the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 23 for their next competition.
