No. 18 Men’s Golf tied for second after day one at Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

Maas fires a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 139 on Saturday and is tied for second in the individual standings.
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The No. 18 Texas Men's Golf team carded a two-round total of 6-under-par 570 (285-285) on Saturday to rest in a tie for second place after the opening day of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club. Sophomore Christiaan Maas posted a 36-hole score of 5-under-par 139 (70-69) and is tied for second in the individual standings.
No. 1 North Carolina holds the team lead after the first 36 holes at 16-under-par 560 (281-279). The Longhorns are tied with tournament host Augusta (284-286) for second at 6-under 570, while Oklahoma State is fourth at 3-under 573 (285-288). Only five of the 15 teams competing in the event recorded under-par scores through the opening two rounds on Saturday. The 15-team field features five squads in the Top 25 of the national rankings provided by Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
Jackson Buchanan of Illinois holds the 36-hole individual lead at 8-under-par 136 (70-66). Maas is part of a three-way tie for second place that also includes Dylan Menante of North Carolina (68-71) and Mercer's Tobias Jonsson (71-68). Graduate Brian Stark is tied for 17th place at even-par 144 (73-71) and is among 20 individuals in the 78-player field to register par or better two-round totals on Saturday.
The Augusta Haskins Award Invitational concludes with a final round on Sunday, April 7. Texas will be paired with North Carolina and Augusta for Sunday's final round and will tee off beginning at 10:10 a.m. ET (9:10 a.m. CT).
The Lineup
- Sophomore Christiaan Maas carded a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 139 (70-69) and is tied for second place in the individual standings. During his morning round, Maas tallied six birdies against four bogeys to post a 2-under 70. He was 1-over through 12 holes in his afternoon round before making birdies on four of his final six holes (17, 18, 3 and 4) to record a 3-under 69.
- Graduate Brian Stark registered a two-round score of even-par 144 (73-71) and is tied for 17th in the individual standings. Stark recorded five birdies against four bogeys during his afternoon round to post a 1-under 71.
- Senior Nathan Petronzio fired a 36-hole total of 1-over-par 145 (74-71) and is tied for 21st in the individual standings. Petronzio registered four birdies against three bogeys during his afternoon round to record a 1-under 71.
- Sophomore Tommy Morrison carded a two-round score of 2-over-par 146 (68-78) and is tied for 25th on the individual leaderboard. During his morning round, Morrison was 1-over through his first six holes before catching fire and making birdies on six of the next 10 holes (10, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 1) to climb to 5-under. He closed his round with a par on No. 2 and a bogey on No. 3 to finish at 4-under 68.
- Sophomore Keaton Vo posted a 36-hole total of 4-over-par 148 (74-74) and is tied for 39th place. Vo tallied a combined total of three birdies and 27 pars during his two rounds on Saturday.
