AS A FRESHMAN (2018)
Made eight appearances in the circle with three starts, going 1-2 with a 5.69 ERA and six strikeouts over 16.0 innings of work ... Worked one frame of one-hit relief during the 8-0 (6 inn.) win over UIW (May 2) ... Twirled two innings out of the bullpen in the 15-2 (5 inn.) victory over Samford (April 7) ... Allowed one earned run on four hits over 2.0 innings of relief in her first career Big 12 action during the 11-4 victory at Iowa State (March 30) ... Earned her first collegiate victory from the circle by allowing two earned runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts during a 4-2 triumph over Jacksonville State (March 17) at the Charleston Invitational ... Permitted a single earned tally on three hits in 2.0 innings of relief during UT’s Puerto Vallarta College Challenge loss to No. 15/18 Ole Miss (Feb. 15) ... Allowed three earned runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts over 4.0 frames during her first career collegiate start as Texas fell to Colorado State (Feb. 10), 6-2.
TRAVEL BALL
With the California Cruisers, Romero helped her travel ball team to a national finalist berth at the 2016 PGF Premier 18-Under Nationals and to the title at the 2014 PGF Platinum 18-Under event ... During the 2017 season, she was named a PGF Western Region All-American as her 18-U squad finished third at PGF Premier Nationals.
BEFORE TEXAS
A multi-sport athlete that earned letters in softball, soccer, volleyball and cross country at the Academy of Careers & Exploration in Helendale, Calif., Romero made quite a name for herself on the diamond ... A four-time MaxPreps Softball All-American, the MaxPreps California Small School Softball Player of the Year (2017) and a multiple-time selection to the California Small Schools All-State Team and the All-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section First Team, she completed her interscholastic career with 980 strikeouts in 486 innings, while batting .550 with 175 hits, 195 runs scored, 39 doubles, 20 triples, 21 HR’s and 128 RBIs over 93 total contests ... Listed 20th on FloSoftball’s list of the "Hot 100 2017 Softball Recruits," Romero had a remarkable 2017 senior season, tossing eight no-hitters (three perfect games) and striking out 278 over 99 innings with a 0.64 ERA to go along with a .656 batting average, nine HR’s and 32 RBIs ... In a contest on April 13, 2017, Romero even twirled a perfect game while also hitting for the cycle ... As a junior in 2016 she hit at a .645 clip with 49 hits, 51 runs scored, a 1.026 slugging mark and a 0.92 ERA with 237 K’s over 129 innings ... During her career, she helped her high school team to a 2014 CIF Southern Section State title as well as a state finalist berth in 2015 ... Romero also picked up a selection as a 2014 MaxPreps Underclass All-American, was a four-time first-team Cross Valley League inclusion and was named the Cross Valley League Most Valuable Player three times ... She is also the Academy of Careers & Exploration three-mile female record holder and a multiple-time Cross Valley All-League choice in cross country.
