· Texas opens play in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Texas Tech. The Longhorns are the No. 5 seed in the tournament while the Red Raiders are the No. 4 seed.
· Texas finished the regular season with a 36-16 record, including a 13-11 mark in the Big 12. The Longhorns concluded the season by taking two of three at Kansas State, including a 9-8 win in 10 innings on Sunday.
· Dillon Peters (Pitcher) and Tres Barrera (Newcomer) claimed weekly honors from the Big 12 for their play vs. Kansas State. Peters propelled Texas to a no-hitter on Friday, tossing seven hitless innings as Texas went on to a 12-0 victory. He struck out eight, one shy of his career high. Barrera went 7-for-13 with three home runs in the three-game series. He blasted two homers in Sunday's 9-8, 10-inning victory, including what proved to be the game-winning run with a solo shot in the top of the 10th.
· Eight Longhorns earned All-Big 12 honors. CF Mark Payton was named to the first team; RHP Chad Hollingsworth, 2B Brooks Marlow and RHP Nathan Thornhill were named to the second team; Ben Johnson received honorable mention; and Tres Barrera, Morgan Cooper and Zane Gurwitz were selected to the All-Freshman team.
· The Texas pitching staff ranks second in the Big 12 and 10th nationally with a 2.40 ERA. Texas is holding opponents to a .230 batting average which is also second best in the league.
· The Longhorns are fourth in the league and 30th nationally in fielding percentage (.975). Texas has turned 56 double plays which ranks second in the Big 12 and t-13th nationally.
· Designated hitter Madison Carter is hitting .381 on the season and .444 in Big 12 games. In the last six games, Carter is 13-of-21 (.619) with 10 runs, four RBIs, two doubles and a home run.
· Mark Payton leads the Big 12 in on-base percentage (.446) and walks (44), is third in triples (5) and is hitting .309. Payton has reached base safely in 91 consecutive games dating back to last season, which is the longest streak nationally and the second longest in Big 12 history (93 - Nick Martini, K-State, 2009-11).
· Carter (24-62, .387), Tres Barrera (46-135, .341), Ben Johnson (43-139, .309) and Zane Gurwitz (36-120, .300) have been the offensive leaders since March 11.
· Texas ranks 15th in the offical NCAA RPI and has played the 13th most difficult schedule in the country according to BoydsWorld.com. The Longhorns have a 9-9 record against teams in the RPI top 35, including 7-3 in road and neutral games. Against the RPI top 100, Texas is 27-15.
