A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP
•Texas leads the all-time series with UT Arlington 56-17, and holds a 55-17 lead at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
•The only prior meeting between the two clubs not at home for Texas was on Feb. 6, 2007, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock while UFCU Disch-Falk Field was being renovated.
•The Longhorns are making their first appearance at Globe Life Park (formerly the Ballpark in Arlington) since the 2004 Big 12 Tournament was held there.
A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS
•The Texas baseball team ranks in the Top 25 of each major college baseball poll (Collegiate Baseball - 14; NCBWA - 14; USA Today Coaches Poll - 16; D1Baseball.com - 17; Perfect Game - 18; Baseball America - 21).
• Ben Johnson leads the Big 12 in hits (38), batting average (.432), total bases (58) and slugging percentage (.659) and Collin Shaw leads the league in doubles with 13 (Chart on p. 3).
• The Longhorns mashed 10 extra base hits in the three-game set vs. WVU (5 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR), giving them 65 (43 doubles, 8 triples, 14 home runs) through the first 20 games. At this point last season, Texas had 27 extra base hits (15 doubles, 9 3B, 3 HR). (Chart on p. 3).
• Of Texas' 114 runs, 59 have come with two outs this season (51.8%) after eight of its 15 runs scored against WVU this past weekend came with two down. The Horns are hitting .295 (66-for-224) with two outs this season.
• In contrast, Texas is holding opponents to a .210 batting avg. (43-for-205) with two down in the inning.
• Texas has now scored 83 of its 114 runs (72.8%) on the year in innings where the leadoff man reaches base safely. Longhorn leadoff hitters are reaching base 39.1% of the time (68 of 174 innings).
• UT is outscoring its opponents 48-12 from the seventh inning on this year, and is 9-0 when leading after the sixth inning.
• Connor Mayes picked up Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors on Monday after striking out 10 in 6 2/3 scoreless innings of relief vs. West Virginia last Saturday.
