AS A SOPHOMORE (2016)
Earned 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball honors … finished the season with the lowest ERA among Texas pitchers who qualify (1 IP per game) at 3.60 … made 21 appearances including 11 starts … finished with a 2.95 ERA in those 11 starts … gave one of his best performances of the season on May 28 vs. TCU (game one) in the Big 12 Tournament … he tossed six innings, allowing one run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts … allowed a single earned run while striking out three in a four-inning start on May 21 vs. Baylor … issued a single walk while striking out five over four innings in a combined shutout of Prairie View A&M on May 3, his eighth start of the year … made two appearances in the team's series against Kansas State (April 8-9), tossing a combined 2.1 innings and recording five strikeouts … held TCU scoreless in two appearances in relief, earning saves in consecutive appearances (March 24 and 25), notching two innings with one strikeout … struck out eight batters in six innings against Tulane (March 18), allowing two earned runs on four hits … allowed one earned run in five innings on March 13 at UCLA, surrendering only three hits and striking out three batters … tossed six shutout innings on March 6 vs. California, striking out five batters and only allowing five hits … started in the team's third game of the season's opening series vs. UNLV (Feb. 21), tossing four scoreless innings and striking out three batters in Texas' 7-0 win.
AS A FRESHMAN (2015)
Finished his freshman season with a 2.58 ERA over 66.1 innings … made 29 appearances including four starts … tied for third on the team with two saves … ended the year third in the Big 12 in appearances with 29 and led conference freshmen with a .231 opponent’s average … finished eighth in the Big 12 in ERA (2.58) … had 54 strikeouts compared to 21 walks … earned Co-Most Outstanding Pitcher honors at the Big 12 Tournament after pitching a complete game shutout against Baylor on May 23, his 19th birthday … it was the first complete game shutout by a UT pitcher since Brandon Workman did so on June 4, 2010 vs. Rider … had 10 strikeouts in the outing while allowing just two hits and three walks … the nine innings pitched were a career-high and the 10 strikeouts matched a career-best … with 10 strikeouts, became first Texas pitcher to have multiple 10-strikeout games in the same season (also March 14 vs. West Virginia) since Taylor Jungmann did so in 2011 (10 on April 8 vs. Baylor and 12 vs. Texas A&M on May 19) … named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team on May 19 … struck out five batters over five frames against Texas Tech on May 3 while allowing five earned runs … picked up his second save of the season May 1 vs. Texas Tech when he preserved a 3-0 lead with a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts … tossed 5.1 innings of relief on April 26 at TCU, striking out four while allowing two runs on three hits in the second-longest outing of his season … made three straight scoreless relief appearances from April 12-17 spanning 2.2 innings … went eight straight appearances in March (1-28) without allowing a run and only surrendered nine hits in that span … picked up his first career save March 22 vs. Kansas State, tossing 2.2 frames to end the game with two strikeouts while allowing just one hit batter … named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after he tossed 6.2 shutout innings of three-hit ball with a career-high 10 strikeouts to only one walk vs. West Virginia on March 14 … spun 2.2 combined scoreless frames against Stanford on March 5 and 8, allowing no hits and striking out two … went 2.2 innings against UTPA on February 25 while allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out three in a no decision … tossed 1.1 scoreless frames vs. Minnesota on February 21 (game one), and allowed just one hit and one walk while recording a strikeout … earned his first collegiate win against UTSA on February 17 when he started and spun three scoreless frames, surrendering just two hits and striking out two … tossed a scoreless eighth inning of Texas’ win over Rice on February 13 in his collegiate debut, allowing two hits … named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2014 fall semester.
